China Daily, June 12th, (Reporter Zhao Xinying)Recently, the “Volunteer Service and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Seminar and Training Conference”, which promoted China’s participation in international volunteer service development projects through South-South cooperation and “One Belt, One Road”, was held at Beijing Normal University.

The conference seminar section officially released the "China Volunteer Service Economic Value Measurement Report". The report stated: The development of volunteer service is an essential way for China to innovate social governance model and stimulate social vitality. It can bring reform dividends for China's further development. China's Transformation and development are inseparable from voluntary service. Measuring the economic value of volunteer service reflects the exact level of social progress, changes the GDP-oriented evaluation system and promotes the transformation of the social governance model.  To develop the cause of voluntary service, we must adhere to the principle of spontaneity. The government should play an auxiliary role in supervision, guidance, and promotion so that volunteer service plays an essential role in promoting social governance innovation and maintaining social harmony and stability.

To accurately understand the development of China's volunteer service and measure the contribution of volunteer service to the economy and society, the China Volunteer Service Federation commissioned Beijing Normal University to carry out the research project of “China Volunteer Service Value Survey”. Professor Tu Qin of Beijing Normal University is the academic director of this research project. The "China Volunteer Service Economic Value Measurement Report" is one of the important achievements of this topic, and is of great significance for measuring the economic value of China's voluntary service. The "China Volunteer Service Economic Value Measurement Report" reflects that the value of volunteer service has a social dimension and a more economic dimension. Measuring the value of volunteerism can reflect the status of volunteerism in the economy and reflect its position in social progress.
