On June 9, 2017, the “Volunteer Service and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Symposium” was held in the Beijing Normal University. Professor Chenghua Guan, Dean of our school, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. Professor Qin Tu, the director of the academic committee of our school, on behalf of the “China Genuine Progress Survey” project team, published the “2017 China Volunteer Service Economic Value Measurement Report”.

The seminar was co-hosted by Beijing Normal University, The United Nations Volunteers, the China International Center For Economic and Technical Exchanges of the Ministry of Commerce and the Beijing Volunteer Service Federation.The goal is to deepen the understanding of the economic value of volunteer services, explore the development trends of global volunteer services, promote exchanges and cooperation in the field of volunteer service research at home and abroad, and advocate establishing the "International Volunteer Service Alliance."Participants included Malang Berner, Asia-Pacific regional manager of UNV, Margaret Carroll, organization policy expert, Wenjie Guo, deputy secretary of the Communist Youth League Beijing Committee, and Professor Shizhen Lu, president of the Beijing Volunteer Service Research Development Institution, Volunteer organization representatives, the general executive of China's "China Genuine Progress Indicators Survey", associate professor Yexin Zhou, and project members.

The China Genuine Progress Indicator Survey (CGPiS) is a national comprehensive social survey project developed by the China Institute of Innovation and Development. It is dedicated to building a complete "China Genuine Progress" database. Provide reliable data support for China's Genuine Progress Indicator (GPI) measurement and theoretical research. The 2017 China Volunteer Service Economic Value Measurement Report is one of the main achievements of the project.
