On the afternoon of September 9, the research group of “China Volunteer Service Value Survey" held an expert seminar at Beijing Normal University. Professor Guan Chenghua, Dean of School of Economics and Resource Management of Beijing Normal University, and Deputy Secretary-General of China Volunteer Service Association Guo Xinbao, who is also the Vice President and Secretary General of Beijing Volunteer Service Federation, and experts of the research group, Professor Tu Qin, Associate Professor Zhou Yexin as well as Associate Professor Song Tao attended the meeting.
First of all, Associate Professor Zhou Yexin gave an overview of the preliminary research and preliminary results of this topic. Subsequently, the participating experts and relevant responsible comrades discussed the framework and chapter content of the China Volunteer Service Value Survey Report. In his speech, Guo Xinbao highly affirmed the dedication and academic standards of the experts of the group and gave three suggestions. The first one is to summarize the experience of the work of this project, retain and transform a team of social research volunteers to promote the long-term and dynamic development of this research. The Second one is to publish the regional report based on the general report and characteristics of the survey area. Thirdly, the study should combine the policy documents such as the "Opinions on Supporting and Developing Volunteer Service Organizations" and the theoretical system of volunteer service with Chinese characteristics, further strengthen the promotion of results, and enhance the academic achievements and coverage of the results.
Finally, Prof. Guan Chenghua expressed his heartfelt thanks to the China Volunteer Service Federation and the Beijing Volunteer Service Federation for their support! Regarding the report on the subject, he pointed out four suggestions: The first one is to highlight the characteristics of quantitative research from the perspective of economics. The second one is to study the main line of sustainable volunteer service in the context of GPI measurement. The third one is to extensively solicit opinions of experts and scholars in the field of volunteer services. The fourth one is to redevelop and reuse the results conscientiously.
