Abstract:
Based on the micro-investigation data of 2009 in Beijing, for the first time, the authors measure the comparative importance of different factors of migrant workers' personal social capital, construct a comprehensive index, and find empirical support for Bian Yanjie's operation definition of network social capital. Research finds out that the social network of migrant workers has gender and generation differences. Women migrant workers are weak than man workers in different aspects, and the new generation of migrant workers is better than the old generation in most of the dimensions; social capital inequality exists in migrant workers as a whole, as well as gender and generation aspects; new social capital of the new generation is larger in scale than the old generation, and it has more potential for development.
